About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional you will help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live fulfilling, independent lives in a supportive community home. The position is weekend‑only, allowing you to keep weekdays free. No prior experience is required; comprehensive paid training is provided.
Responsibilities
- Empowerment & Personal Growth: Help individuals work toward personal independence goals, provide coaching and encouragement following individualized care plans, serve as a positive role model, and support skill development in daily living activities.
- Community Engagement & Activities: Plan and participate in weekend recreational and therapeutic programs, accompany residents on outings, appointments, and social activities, transport individuals safely, and foster community connections.
- Daily Living Support: Assist with personal care needs, help with meal preparation and light housekeeping, and maintain a warm, clean, and welcoming home environment.
- Health, Safety & Documentation: Monitor and support medication administration and health needs, implement approved behavior support plans, maintain a safe living environment, respond to emergencies, and complete required documentation, reports, and data collection.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license held for at least 3 years with no more than 3 points on the driving record.
- PA clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal, FBI fingerprinting).
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality.
- Comfortable working both day and overnight shifts.
- No prior experience required; training will be provided.
