Direct Support Professional II - Behavior Specialist Assistant

As a Behavior Specialist Assistant, you will provide direct support to individuals with unique behavioral and/or mental health challenges, ensuring they live safe, healthy, and fulfilled lives while respecting their culture, talents, and contributions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall physical, psychological, and emotional health and safety of participants in residential homes.
• Provide supports as outlined in the individual’s support plan, including personal care, physical lifting, and therapeutic holds.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, cooking, and budgeting.
• Support the Behavior Specialist and Clinical Director in developing teaching procedures for Individual Support Plan goals and objectives.
• Assist in analyzing data and developing graphic presentations to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Facilitate and monitor crisis intervention and prevention responses.
• Encourage community engagement and the development of new relationships for individuals.
• Follow clinical orders and administer medications and treatments according to proper medical procedures.
• Participate in paid New Employee Orientation and training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration.
• Receive comprehensive program-specific training at the work site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field (preferred). Four years of experience in a related field can substitute for education.
• Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform tasks including sitting, pushing, pulling, carrying, grasping, speaking, listening, stooping, crouching, bending, standing, twisting, crawling, walking, and climbing.
• Flexibility and ability to walk, run, or shuffle; kneel and stand; utilize upper and lower body strength; may require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance.

• Experience in mental health and developmental disabilities.

Pay

$24.00/hour with a $1000 sign-on bonus.
