About the role
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for the safety and supervision of individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and behavioral health histories. The DSP facilitates healthy and socially acceptable behaviors while living in community-based sites, coordinating with clinical staff, implementing residential interventions, and assisting clients in achieving their clinical assignments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with clinical staff to implement residentially based interventions
- Support clients in achieving their clinical assignments
- Complete required documentation
- Administer medication
- Provide transportation to consumers
- Support clients in activities of daily living, meal prep, toileting, hygiene, as appropriate
- Assist in community integration activities and access to community supports including medical appointments, social security access, etc.
- Complete all other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Prior experience in the human services field is preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Basic computer and internet literacy
- Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance if applicable
Qualifications
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred
- High level of computer and internet literacy
- Basic knowledge of applications like emails, time recording, and other programs to enter and retrieve data
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and behavioral health
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
