Direct Support Professional - Greenhouse - Monday - Friday 9:00am-3:00pm-30 hours

About the role

BARC is currently seeking professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in our Greenhouse. This position is ideal for those who love plants, gardening, and have a desire to make a meaningful impact in someone else's life.

Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least age 18.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record within the past 3 years, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
• Assist the management team in identifying and providing opportunities for learning new skills and independence, working with each individual’s goals and plans.
• Electronically record daily activities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with all policies and procedures to protect the identity, medical, and HIPPA information.
• Provide daily care to greenhouse plants, including planting, transplanting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, controlling insects and disease, ventilating, and controlling weeds; manage plant nutrient levels.
• Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Provide customer support for our greenhouse patrons.
• Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Efforts

• Extended periods of standing, sitting, and walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
• The ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds.
