About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Brightway Living and Learning, you will provide compassionate, individualized support to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, foster independence, promote well‑being, and help individuals connect with their communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized support with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and community outings.
• Foster independence by helping individuals develop life skills and make choices.
• Promote social inclusion by supporting participation in community activities.
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating empathy and patience.
• Collaborate effectively with a team of DSPs, supervisors, and families.

Requirements

• Valid NYS Driver’s License held for at least 18 months with a clean driving history.
• Successful completion of Brightway Living and Learning Transportation Orientation.
• Availability to work a 12‑hour shift on Wednesday, an additional weekday, and either Saturday or Sunday (7 am – 7 pm or 8 am – 8 pm).

Pay

Hourly rates range from $19.00 – $23.10 (weekends $28.50 – $34.65). Average rates are $24.50 – $26.95 for DSP drivers (including weekends) and $22.17 – $24.38 for DSP non‑drivers (including weekends). Weekend shifts receive premium pay at 1.5 × the regular hourly rate.

Schedule

This floater position requires a 12‑hour shift on Wednesday, an additional weekday, and either Saturday or Sunday. Shifts run from 7 am – 7 pm or 8 am – 8 pm. Options include a 3‑day work week with 4 days off, providing up to 16 days off per month and the potential for around six months of extended time off throughout the year. Each schedule includes one weekend day per week.
