Direct Support Professional - Female DBT Programs

About the role

Direct Support/Care Professional working with youth (ages 12‑21) in Devereux Massachusetts group homes and residential programs that serve females with mood, anxiety, trauma, disruptive behavior, and related disorders. Programs follow a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) model, providing individual therapy and DBT skills groups, and focus on life‑skill development, emotional regulation, and preparation for independent living.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to ensure the safety and security of assigned youth.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions in a compassionate, safe environment.
• Engage youth positively, teach and prompt appropriate behaviors, and provide positive reinforcement.
• Teach and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills.
• Maintain required documentation such as progress notes and incident reports using adequate organizational and communication skills.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to attend a 2‑week paid orientation (Monday‑Friday, 8 AM‑4 PM) in Rutland, MA.
• Must be MAPS certified or able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, behavioral disorders and/or autism spectrum disorder preferred.

• Strong organizational and communication skills for documentation and reporting.
• Ability to teach and reinforce life‑skills and DBT concepts.
• Compassionate, patient, and capable of building trusting relationships with youth.
