About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional / Caregiver, you will assist in a residential group home by helping people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes, assist with personal cares, and provide normalization and community integration. You'll work directly with people in need of assistance, and/or living with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other complex medical needs.

Behavioral DSP Role

For those interested in a Behavioral DSP role, we are looking for candidates with prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical. You will provide support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and people who are faced with mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges. We are looking to hire staff who are patient, have good decision-making and crisis-management skills, and who will not be intimidated by these behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and documentation to follow support plans and collaborate with team members)
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position (due to transporting persons served)
  • Candidates must be comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
  • Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role

Preferred Experience

  • Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred for Behavioral DSP roles
  • Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities or related experience
  • Certifications & trainings (CBRF, CNA, CPR, etc.) are appreciated but not required

Pay

$17.00 per hour + $2.00 per hour weekend shift differential (for any time worked on weekends, from 5pm Friday to 8am Monday). Eligible for $1,500 bonus based on assigned program.

Schedule

Multiple schedules available. Positions are available in Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Waukesha, and Oak Creek.
