Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) to ensure their health, safety, and achievement of service objectives and personal goals.
• Enrich and support the lives of residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to attend two weeks of paid in-house orientation and training.
• Passion to help others through person-centered care.
• Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
• Strong communication skills for documenting care, following support plans, and collaborating with team members.

Pay

$20.00/hour (The rate of pay and pay scale provided for this position are based on title and geographical location). Full range scale: $20.00–$22.30.
