Direct Support Professional (DSP)

About the role

BAYADA is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them build confidence, strengthen everyday skills, and live more independently in their homes.

Responsibilities

• Provide support with daily routines and personal care
• Help individuals build life skills and maintain independence
• Offer encouragement, consistency, and meaningful companionship
• Support engagement at home and within the community

Requirements

• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• High school diploma or equivalent (18+)
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and locations
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive clients to activities
• Willingness to travel between clients within your assigned area

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in a client's home/community
• Knowledge of community resources and services

Job Responsibilities of a Home Care Direct Support Professional

• Ability to work independently in a client's home/community
• Accompany clients on errands and appointments
• Assist with everyday tasks, such as meal preparation
• Participate in community integration activities
• Provide personal care assistance (dressing, grooming, etc.)
