Job Description
The primary duties of this position are as follows:
- Supervise individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during activities, breaks, lunch, and leisure on campus and the community.
- Provides individual or group instruction to teach techniques and skills.
- Adapts materials and techniques to assist individuals in meeting goals or completing tasks.
- Makes sure individuals comply with procedures and safety regulations and notes any behavior deviations.
- Checks the completion of assigned tasks visually and individually, to make sure they meet the specifications.
- Reassigns individuals to simpler tasks when necessary or to tasks with higher complexity as their competence increases.
- Monitors individuals at all times and ensures adequate supervision in the community and on campus.
- Implements individual goal plans and behavior programs. Monitors progress towards goals and reports quarterly or as required on the plan.
- Uses behavior management techniques, including verbal praise and gestures to reinforce positive behaviors. Ignores certain behaviors when appropriate.
- Assesses the needs, strengths, and preferences of individuals.
- Writes individual training plans and modifies them as necessary.
- Provides daily and monthly documentation that is accurate and clearly written.
