Direct Support Professional

About the role

Easterseals PORT Health empowers individuals and strengthens communities through our mission. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role by assisting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in completing daily tasks and achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Support personal care including bathing, dressing, toiletry, and changing diapers.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

Requirements

• Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge.
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or ability to learn.
• Reliable transportation, driver's license, and current auto insurance.

Qualifications

• Experience: Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge: Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Skills: Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Technology: Proficiency with EHR systems or technical savvy to learn.
• Transportation: Reliable transportation, driver's license, and current auto insurance.
