Direct Support Professional
About the role
Easterseals PORT Health empowers individuals and strengthens communities through its mission. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role by assisting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) with daily living tasks and achieving their goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
- Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
- Support personal care including bathing, dressing, toiletry, and changing diapers.
- Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
- Help plan and organize their schedule.
- Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
Requirements
- Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge.
- Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
- Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn.
- Reliable transportation, driver's license, and current auto insurance.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work Saturdays, with some possible weekdays.
- Location: Murfreesboro, NC and surrounding areas with local community travel.
