Direct Support Professional
About the role
Easterseals PORT Health empowers individuals and strengthens communities through our mission. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a critical role in achieving this mission by assisting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) with daily living tasks and goal achievement.
Responsibilities
- Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community they live in.
- Assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
- Support personal care tasks including bathing, dressing, toiletry, and changing diapers.
- Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
- Help plan and organize their schedule.
- Document and report in the electronic health system of record daily activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge.
- Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
- Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn.
- Reliable transportation, driver's license, and current auto insurance.
Qualifications
Entry-level, on-the-job training is provided. No prior experience is necessary.
