About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at CHI Friendship in Grafton, North Dakota, provides compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, implementing support plans, documenting progress, and fostering a safe, respectful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures each person within the department has all of his/her basic assurances met
  • Attends program training and accurately implements all OSP/PCSP programs, learning objectives, and supports
  • Documents in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supported
  • Learns about the best possible health needs (including physical and mental health) for the person you are supporting
  • Supports people to remain connected to their natural supports and be active members of the community
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment in which to live and work
  • Supports people to look their best by providing assistance in areas of hygiene, grooming, and attire
  • Aids in financial management by ensuring people we support are free of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation
  • Serves as a personal advocate for people and teaches members of the community to treat people we support with dignity and respect
  • Advocates and sources job opportunities with employers, community members, families, and other stakeholders to develop needed supports and services

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent diploma
  • Driver's License: ND, upon hire
  • Auto Insurance, upon hire
  • One year of work experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Genuine passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to build positive rapport with people and learn about their wants, needs, and desires
  • Knowledge of Personal Outcome Measures and other assessments to learn about each person’s goals and dreams

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification
  • Effective time management and organizational skills

Pay

The posted compensation range for this position is $18.15 - $25.63 per hour, reflecting the lowest to highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Schedule

Position is PRN (Per Request Notified) with various hours as needed, and shifts vary.
