DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - 7 am - 2:30 pm (37.5)
About the role
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans that promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals they support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of those they serve, working in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care.
Responsibilities
- Follow agency policies and related goals and plans promoting inclusion and social and emotional growth for individuals served.
- Provide care and support to individuals, ensuring their health, well-being, and development.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to deliver quality care.
- Create, implement, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans and Individualized Service Plans (ISP) goals.
- Support IMPACT's mission, vision, and guiding principles.
Requirements
- Valid CT Driver's License and reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification.
- Essential physical skills including running, squatting, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting at least 50 pounds, pushing/pulling against potential resistance, and implementing non-physical and physical interventions and CPR.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred but will train motivated candidates.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of positive behavior support and individualized service plans.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform various tasks.
