Responsibilities

As a Team Lead, you'll provide direct support while serving as a resource for your team throughout the shift. Every day brings new opportunities to make a positive impact by:

  • Building trusting relationships and supporting clients in achieving their recovery and independence goals
  • Providing hands-on assistance with daily living activities while encouraging clients to do as much as possible on their own
  • Creating a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where clients feel respected and supported
  • Monitoring client progress and communicating important observations to supervisors and the treatment team
  • Advocating for clients during appointments, community outings, and other activities
  • Safely administering medications after completing required training
  • Transporting clients to appointments, community activities, and other treatment-related destinations
  • Completing accurate documentation, medication records, and incident reports in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED Required. Associate’s Degree in Social Services or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Experience working with individuals living with mental illness or behavioral health needs. Previous experience in a direct support, residential care, behavioral health, or human services setting.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Maintain a valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Adult CPR, First Aid and Mandatory Dependent Adult Abuse certification. Successful completion of a Medication Management course that is approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals and/or HCBS, within six-months of hire.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Ability to read and comprehend common terminology of the mental health field. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure. Ability to remain emotionally neutral when intervening with clients. Ability to establish and maintain boundaries with clients. Must enjoy working with people.
