Direct Support Camp Counselor- (Overnight Camp 2026)

About the role

Camp Cheerful, located in Strongsville, OH, is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Direct Support Camp Counselors for the summer season from June 8th to August 14th.

Responsibilities

- Provide high-quality primary care and support for campers. - Perform tasks such as toileting and changing for campers. - Participate in a variety of camp activities including hiking, arts and crafts, nature activities, games, campfire activities, music, sports, and more. - Work overnight hours: Sunday 5pm through Friday 12pm. - Serve a wide range of disabilities including cognitive, physical, developmental, and neurological.

Requirements

- Must be 18 years of age or older. - Previous camp experience with adults with disabilities is preferred but not required. - CPR, First Aid, and AED certification will be provided at no cost. - Crisis prevention and intervention certification will be provided at no cost.

Qualifications

- Fun, patient, warm, and enthusiastic personality. - Ability to work in all weather conditions. - Personal care skills are required.

Benefits

- Compensation is $500 per week, which can be a paid student internship if approved by your school/college. - Comprehensive training provided at no cost, including CPR, First Aid, AED certification, and crisis prevention and intervention certification.
