Direct Print Technician

Main Responsibilities

• Set up machines to run at optimum speed
• Aid in the efficient operation of the Print Department
• Train Packers according to a training plan, if necessary
• Carry out print and product changeovers on printing machines
• Provide support to maintain machine efficiency targets (troubleshooting)
• Organize breaks to optimize machine hours, if necessary
• Coordinate the setup and approval of new prints
• Approve new prints when required
• Operate machines as needed
• Perform minor maintenance tasks
• Minimize waste and scrap and record relevant data
• Offer assistance and/or technical support to maintenance
• Check print tooling and return to storage after production
• Prepare and check changeover trolleys
• Conduct First Off Verifications on Print
• Establish optimum production speed for new products
• Coordinate the setup and print approval of new prints
• Update ink mix guide
• Raise orders for printing department consumables weekly (ink, blanket, tape)
• Report maintenance faults to the shift leader
• Conduct Print verifications and perform quality checks
• Fill out Production Records

Housekeeping, Hygiene & Safety

• Housekeeping of work areas / 5S
• Clean specific machine components as required during changeover/Cleaning and inspect carton packer if applicable
• Ensure adherence to Food Safety / Hygiene / GMP requirements at all times to maintain high levels of product safety and quality
• Regular hand washing and exposure to cleaning agents that may be harsh to the skin (PPE provided)

Teamwork, Involvement & Continuous Improvement

• Organize cell/day-to-day decision-making and support team members
• Participate in team discussions and meetings, especially at shift handover
• Mentor other operators as required
• Carry out print and product changeovers on printing and decorating machines applying Synergy when possible
• Overlap at shift change
• Participate in projects or continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills

• High School Diploma
• Experience with printing plastics, strong technical/mechanical ability, self-motivated, great team worker, positive attitude
• Flexibility to help wherever needed
• Two-year technical degree preferred
• Flexibility in relation to shifts
• Technical proficiency
