About the Role
Provide direct care to community residents, primarily for their activities of daily living. Assist with housekeeping, laundry duties, mealtime service, and other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents in and out of bed and into wheelchairs according to procedure, including use of a gait belt.
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, undressing, and peri care as needed.
- Take and record vital signs of residents according to community schedule and policies.
- Assist residents to the dining area for meals; may include feeding assistance.
- Strip and replace bed linens per schedule or as needed.
- Assist in personal grooming of residents, including turning residents as designated on care plans.
- Clean bedpans and empty catheter bags as required.
- Document and report resident information as instructed; complete documentation before leaving shift.
- Maintain med room and med cart in a clean and orderly manner.
- Provide shift report on resident status as required.
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning services in resident and common areas as scheduled.
- Provide laundry and linen service, including delivery of resident laundry.
- Perform minor maintenance and servicing on community equipment, including inventory of supplies.
- Monitor personal and staff compliance with state and federal requirements (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, fire safety, and residents’ rights).
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician’s orders, community policies, and schedules.
- Perform simple dressing changes to wounds.
- Notify RN of medications needing refills.
- Work rotating weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Regular worksite attendance.
- Complete at least 12 hours of in-service education annually, as required by the community, Department of Human Services, and Department of Inspections and Appeals.
- Complete Relias assignments on time.
- Successfully complete annual skills check-off with the RN.
- Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other departments.
- Basic computer skills.
- If required to operate a motor vehicle, comply with Company’s Motor Vehicles policy.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Use a transfer/gait belt or obtain assistance when lifting or carrying objects over 25 pounds.
