Direct Care Technician

This is a direct hire caregiver role with no agency involvement. Community Horizons is assisting the member with recruitment and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist me with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming
• Transport me to and from my day service program as needed
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for changes in condition
• Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with my dietary needs and assist me during mealtimes/snacks
• Teach and support me with learning new skills
• Provide community integration opportunities based on my interests and abilities
• Maintain a clean, safe home environment through regular cleaning and household tasks
• Provide emotional support and companionship to promote my mental well-being and build a trusting connection to the world around me

Requirements

• Previous experience working with adults with disabilities, non-verbal individuals as well as behavioral issues (a plus)
• A compassionate, patient, energetic approach to caregiving
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable and mature
• The ability to be encouraging and supportive
• Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be 18 years old to apply
• A background check is required before employment can begin

Schedule

• Monday–Thursday: 2:00 pm – 9:45 am
• Friday at 2:00 pm through Monday at 9:45 am
• Additional daytime hours may be available (2:00 pm – 7:00 pm) – information available upon interview
• Flexible scheduling options – choose shifts that fit your lifestyle
• Both day and overnight shifts available

Pay

• Day shift: $16.50 per hour plus mileage reimbursement of $0.35 per mile
• Overnight shifts: flat rate stipend of $50.75
