Weekend-only position: must work only between Friday 3 p.m. and Monday at 7 a.m. Cannot work during the week.

New-hire bonus: $1,000.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Criminal Background Check or proof of rehabilitation
  • Must be free and clear of communicable diseases
  • Must be available to work an 8-hour shift every other Saturday and Sunday
  • Free training provided; no prior experience needed

Objective

Provide a safe, quality, professional, and caring service. Promote the highest level of independence and enhance the quality of life for individuals residing in Abilities, Inc. programs, ensuring their welfare, safety, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate to different facilities and supervisors as needed
  • Supervise residents according to their Individual Service Plans (ISP), Behavioral Support Plan (BSP), Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP), Elopement Plans/Protocols, Seizure Protocols, Diabetic Protocols, and other specific plans
  • Act as a positive role model; use positive encouragement and avoid actions that contradict the best interest of residents
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free facility; assist residents in keeping their personal living spaces clean
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude toward residents, their guests/family, guardians, care managers, supervisors, and colleagues
  • Complete all tasks assigned by supervisors, including meal preparation following posted menus and sanitary methods, special diets as prescribed, grocery shopping, and menu planning; encourage resident participation
  • Provide Personal Care Services as outlined in residents’ ISPs, including lifting and transferring residents (ability to lift up to 100 pounds using gait belts and adaptive equipment)
  • Plan and participate in community and in-facility activities as per the posted activity calendar
  • Familiarize yourself with Evacuation Procedures, Grievance Procedures, Program Statements, and all Policy and Procedures in the Employee Handbook
  • Attend all scheduled shifts and staff meetings; follow Abilities, Inc. Attendance Policy (704)
  • Communicate comprehensive and accurate reports verbally and in writing; use electronic charting and basic computer skills
  • Provide safe transportation for residents to work, community activities, personal care shopping, Adult Day Care services, and doctor’s appointments as delegated
  • Administer and monitor medications according to physician orders; understand possible side effects and interactions; perform Schedule 2 medication counts
  • Familiarize yourself with State Requirements outlined in DHS 88 and DHS 83
  • Report maintenance concerns and resident condition changes immediately to supervisors and complete appropriate documentation
  • Log in and out for shifts; report any discrepancies in hours or workplace injuries immediately
  • Complete initial and follow-up TB (Tuberculosis) skin tests prior to starting work

Training

Mandatory training includes:

  • Before performing any job duties:
    • Orientation Training

    • Prevention and reporting of resident abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of property
    • Information on assessed needs and individual services for each resident
    • Emergency and disaster plan and evacuation procedures
    • Policies and procedures
    • Recognizing and responding to resident changes of condition
  • Prior to assuming responsibilities:
    • Standard Precautions
  • Within 90 days of employment:
    • Resident Rights
    • Client Group Specific training
    • Recognizing and Responding to Challenging Behaviors
    • Fire Safety
    • First Aid and Choking
    • Provisions of Personal Care
    • Dietary Training
    • Medication Administration and Management
    • Delegations
  • 15 hours of Continuing Education (CEU Training) annually after hire date; failure to complete training may result in suspension or termination

Schedule

Required to work both Saturday and Sunday every other weekend. Available shifts:

  • Friday 3 p.m.–11 p.m.
  • Friday 11 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Saturday 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Saturday 3 p.m.–11 p.m.
  • Saturday 11 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Sunday 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Sunday 3 p.m.–11 p.m.
  • Sunday 11 p.m.–7 a.m.

Pay

Hourly wage: $22–$25.
