Direct Care for Children

About the role

Direct Care Staff for Children provide direct care and support to meet the daily needs of children ages 5‑17 at New Horizons Ranch, a residential home located in Goldthwaite, Texas (approximately 30 miles outside of Brownwood, TX).

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and assist an assigned group of children with daily needs and activities, including getting ready for the day, hygiene, meals, and personal care.
• Complete homework assistance and facilitate planned recreational activities.
• Adhere to treatment plans created by the treatment team and ensure participation in school and therapeutic programs.
• Transport children to and from school, office appointments, and recreational/social activities using company‑provided vans.
• Provide a safe, stable, and home‑like environment.
• Build healthy relationships with the children to support their healing from emotional trauma.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation.
• Complete and implement required trainings per state licensing.
• Study, practice, and operate within New Horizons’ Philosophy and Employee Handbook.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Pass criminal background checks, drug screening, and tuberculosis test.
• Active Driver’s License required.

• Ability to perform conflict resolution or crisis intervention.
• Positive verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to make logical decisions in times of crisis.
• Works well both in a team and independently.

Pay

Starting at $16 per hour.

Schedule

Full‑time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Offers family‑friendly hours, including off‑weekends (3 weekends per month) and no early mornings after an evening shift.
