About the role
Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs is a leading non-profit organization serving over 150 communities in Massachusetts, focusing on child welfare, children’s behavioral health, and special education. We provide services through Residential, CBAT, and Intensive Treatment Programs, Special Education Day School, Therapeutic Middle-High School, Out-Patient, and In-Home Therapeutic Services.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement social and recreational activities for children
- Work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to further the emotional, behavioral, and educational development of children
- Actively participate in supervision and professional development opportunities offered at Walker
- Provide a therapeutic milieu environment for children, maintaining a safe and healthy environment; and meet the physical needs of children
- Implement treatment protocol established in children’s treatment plans, IEPs, and individual crisis management plans
- Properly attend to administrative functions of childcare, including attending required meetings, completing assigned oral and written report writing tasks
- Directly supervise children
- Apply Walker’s model of childcare, including therapeutic crisis intervention methods, and physical restraint
- Administer medication in accordance with Walker’s policy and procedures
Requirements
- New high school and college graduates strongly encouraged to apply
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience, previous experience working in a similar setting and a valid MA driver's license
- Preferred: MAPS Certification
- If not MAPS certified, must be able to obtain MAPS certification within 6 months of hire date

Pay
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Schedule
- 4 Day Work Week Schedule Options: Sunday - Wednesday, Wednesday - Saturday
