Rivendell is a 149 inpatient psychiatric hospital located in the heart of Bowling Green, KY on a 49 acre campus. At Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital, children who are in crisis receive psychiatric care. Teens suffering from depression, disabling anxiety, feelings of hopelessness or suicide can learn new ways to cope. Teens and adults suffering from chemical dependency and substance abuse can get help. Senior adults in need of psychiatric treatment for early onset of dementia, depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide and behavioral problems are treated in a positive, secure and compassionate environment.
About the Role
Are you a visionary leader passionate about helping others achieve meaningful recovery and improved quality of life? We are seeking a Director of Recreational/Expressive Therapy to lead and elevate therapeutic programming that empowers individuals through recreation, art, music, movement, and other expressive modalities. In this leadership role, you will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative therapeutic services that support emotional well-being, personal growth, and patient engagement. Working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will guide a talented group of therapists while creating enriching experiences that make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for Recreational and Expressive Therapy programs.
- Develop engaging, evidence-based therapeutic activities that support treatment goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of therapy professionals.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
- Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and compassionate service.
Qualifications
- Recreational Therapist: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and eligible to sit for national exam conducted through the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
- Music Therapist: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and eligible to sit for national exam conducted through the Certification Board for Music Therapist (CBMT).
- Art Therapist: Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited university and working towards registration with the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).
- Leadership experience in behavioral health, healthcare, rehabilitation, or therapeutic programming.
- Strong communication, team-building, and program development skills.
- Passion for creating meaningful therapeutic experiences that promote healing and recovery.
