About the role
Reports to an Executive Director. Is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the business operations and activities of a medical group division and other practice sites and functions under the supervision of an Executive Director (BMG).
Supervises site Practice Managers. Also responsible for various assigned projects that may impact operations across the entire BMG division.
Responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and manages the business operations and activities of a division of the medical group in accordance with BMG goals and objectives by overseeing the establishment and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems to achieve efficient clinic operation and maximum service to ensure quality patient care to patients;
- Analyzing and recommending changes in systems, procedures, and policies to improve workflow and efficiencies;
- Developing, revising, and promoting, as needed, objectives of the site(s) which are in line with overall objectives of BMG annual goals;
- Providing BMG Administration financial and statistical information necessary to make informed decisions regarding the operation of the Group and site(s);
- Participating in the development and implementation of plans and budgets; monitoring and controlling facility expenditures within budget;
- Making sure fees and reimbursements for services are correct and collecting appropriate fees and past due accounts;
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery;
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with BHS support departments (i.e., Human Resources, Information Systems, Purchasing, Finance, etc.);
- Working closely with and supporting physicians in division to ensure that operations are effective and Medical Group site(s) are managed appropriately;
- Reviewing patient satisfaction surveys with physicians and site Practice Managers;
- Leading management forum meetings and participating in CQI team projects and other meetings as requested by Executive Director;
- Coordinating activities of site managers and delegating responsibilities to appropriate personnel;
- Ensuring adherence to BMG policies and procedures by personnel under Director's supervision;
- Maintaining overall responsibility for operations of assigned sites;
- Encouraging and following proper channels of communication to report problems or suggested changes and implementing as necessary;
- Maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable and quiet environment for patients and personnel; monitoring physical property and overseeing maintenance as necessary;
- Ensuring that adequate supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are provided, overseeing purchasing and payables of all equipment and supplies;
- Conducting division meetings to keep personnel informed of directives, policies, and procedures;
- Being responsible for the selection and termination of employees under supervision of the Director;
- Evaluating the performance of staff being supervised and preparing and administering disciplinary actions, as needed;
- Aiding in the development of the staff being supervised through orientation, unit in-service programs, personal instruction, etc.;
- Effectively communicating benefit programs, personnel policies and practices, and ensuring consistent application of established wage/salary practices.
Qualifications
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or a related field. Previous healthcare management experience required, preferably in a physician practice. Experience with project management and process improvement preferred.

- Demonstrates expert operational knowledge of procedures, observations, treatments, and techniques and health care administration practices utilized at the practice level;
- Requires knowledge of government and reimbursement regulation requirements and organization policies, procedures and systems, including knowledge of computer systems and applications;
- Demonstrates well developed managerial skills necessary to plan, organize, and manage business operations and activities of the divisions clinics;
- Demonstrates well developed leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with a variety of patients, family members, visitors, clinic staff, physicians, public, and external agencies in a professional manner;
