Position Summary
Phoenix Children's is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Nursing Services to lead the Main Operating Room, Cath Lab, and IR departments. The Director will oversee a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment, ensuring delivery of safe, family-centered care while advancing strategic growth initiatives and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success in perioperative leadership within a pediatric setting.
Position Duties
Develops operational plans, initiatives, budgets and programs that support patient care strategies at the enterprise and operational unit levels.
Manages and meets throughput and productivity metrics and variances for staff and programs assigned.
Maintains 3 year plan for capital planning.
Manages and meets operational budgets/targets.
Partners with legal and finance to assure that Phoenix Children's obtains most optimal contracts terms.
Works in partnership with finance to assure that patient billing is captured.
Develops and manages performance trends and staffing plans to meet patient care volumes.
Manages human resources within the scope of labor laws and hospital policies.
Applies recruitment techniques and strategies to fill leader and staff vacancies.
Applies individual and team interview techniques to select qualified applicants.
Oversees development and evaluates onboarding process and content for leaders and staff.
Counsels and trains managers and staff.
Facilitates and maintains strong external relationships in order to monitor national and local trends and identify best practice metrics.
Makes sure customer service strategies are implemented and improved.
Monitors and addresses customer service issues directly related to care.
Directs and manages daily operations to ensure patient care meets professional and regulatory standards.
Leads efforts to improve quality across the service line and leads efforts for survey readiness.
Develops, implements and/or leads key initiatives to provide high quality patient care.
Contributes to a culture of innovation to drive change and improvement.
Makes sure services are in place to attain optimal outcomes.
Ensures staff competencies are completed per Regulatory requirements.
Develops relationships across the enterprise necessary to communicate and carry out nursing and organizational strategies and operational plans.
Collaborates and manages relationships with senior executives and operations staff.
Identifies issues that require immediate attention and applies principles of crisis management to handle situations as needed.
Influences other leaders by role modeling good communication and professional behavior.
Assists others with problem solving skills.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
MSN or Masters degree in related field.
Five or more years of clinical pediatric experience in nursing including 2 years of management/leadership experience OR 5 years of leadership experience in lieu of pediatric specific experience.
Current State of Arizona RN License from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date.
National certification in area of specialty or related field.
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained within 60 days of hire.
Amb Care Nsg (ANCC) OR Cert Nurse Mgr & Ldr (AONE) OR Cert Peds ER Nrs (BCEN) OR Cert Ped Nurse (PNCB) OR Nurse Executive (ANCC) OR Nurse Exec Advanced (ANCC) OR Nursing Specialty OR Cert NICU RN (NCC).
