DIR - ENGINEERING/PLANT OPS

About the Role

Directs and coordinates the operations of the Engineering, Maintenance, and Grounds departments while serving as the hospital Safety Officer. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, EPA, OSHA, and state/local authorities. Oversees efficient and safe operation of hospital buildings, equipment, and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, and controls Engineering, Maintenance, and Grounds departments.
• Fulfills all duties of the hospital Safety Officer.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, EPA, OSHA, state/local agencies).
• Manages staff and contractors to ensure safe and efficient hospital operations.
• Plans, predicts, maintains, and repairs building infrastructure and equipment.
• Utilizes energy management and tracking tools for efficient utility operations.
• Develops and manages operating and capital budgets.
• Manages Clinical Engineering, Safety, and Security departments.
• Applies knowledge of NFPA codes, Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSHA, EPA, and state/local codes.

Requirements

• Current Certified Healthcare Facility Manager certification (or ability to obtain within one year).
• Valid driver’s license.
• 5+ years of hospital engineering management experience.
• Previous project management experience.
• Experience or working knowledge in HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma and degree/certification in a technical trade or facility maintenance/engineering.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.
