Job Summary

The Communications Director is a key member of the Company K12 School dining team with responsibility for managing the internal and external communication of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages company brand and reputation -- elevates Company reputation and visibility in the marketplace
  • Develops, implements and manages a comprehensive internal and external communication strategy
  • Interfaces with CEO on strategic and regular messaging both internally and externally including monthly communications, town hall formats and new ideas
  • Directs public relations agency in implementing media and public relations strategy
  • Drives corporate messaging strategy including development and implementation
  • Directs social media strategy and new modes of communication and engagement
  • Liaises and coordinates content and spokespeople with operations, strategic partners and clients
  • Provides communication counsel to senior management
  • Develops rich and creative content
  • Directs first-level crisis communication with associates, clients and media
  • Identifies and submits applications for third party awards and certifications
  • Supports sales process through development and maintenance of key client/customer facing messages
  • Makes appropriate public appearances

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a major in public relations, communications or journalism
  • Seven or more years of professional corporate communications/ public relations experience required
  • A strategic thinker
  • Previous management experience ideal
  • Foodservice or education industry experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Broad knowledge of social media
  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Senior level presentation, written and verbal communication skills
