$14.50–$16.50 per hour

About the role

The Dining Services Associate assists the Dining Services Director in the creation and execution of the signature dining services program at the community. He or she provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all residents. Each associate’s primary objective is to exhibit the core values of Commonwealth Senior Living and provide a memorable dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe, sanitary manner in accordance with Public Health Regulations and the Sanitation Code.
• Be familiar with Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).
• Ensure a clean, safe working environment by practicing safe work habits, correct hand washing, and routine cleaning.
• Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of residents’ special needs.
• Practice safe usage of all department equipment; clean, sanitize, and maintain equipment as outlined in cleaning schedules.
• Prepare dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes.
• Put away stock upon receiving it, following required procedures.
• Follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is unavailable (e.g., power failure).
• Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director.

Qualifications

• Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent.
• Previous experience in the food service industry.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
• Availability to work varied shifts and weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances throughout the day.
• Ability to tolerate heat from the kitchen.
• Must be free of communicable diseases.
