Dining Service Aide

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation and plating of meals for regular and modified diets.
  • Understand and adhere to basic therapeutic diets and follow menu guidelines and dietary restrictions.
  • Set up dining rooms, meal carts, and serving areas for scheduled meals and special events.
  • Deliver meals and food carts to resident dining areas and nursing neighborhoods.
  • Assist residents during mealtimes while encouraging independence, dignity, and social interaction.
  • Address residents by name and provide courteous, resident-centered service.
  • Operate the commercial dishwasher following proper sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Perform routine cleaning of kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas.
  • Dispose of trash and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Participate in departmental audits, meetings, and required in-service training.
  • Report equipment issues and supply needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required.
  • Follow all infection prevention, food safety, HIPAA, workplace safety, and organizational policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with residents, families, and coworkers.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine lifting associated with food service.
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and resident satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dietary services, food service, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety practices.
  • Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment and dishwashing systems.
