Dining Room Supervisor

About the role

Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the Dining Room Supervisor oversees all aspects of the dining room operation, including staff scheduling, training, setup, service, breakdown, cleanliness, equipment, furnishings, and ordering of service-related food and service supplies for dining and special events. The Dining Room Supervisor coordinates with kitchen staff to maintain smooth, efficient, and pleasant service at all times and oversees the setup of coffee breaks and hors d'oeuvres for large groups.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a customer-focused attitude while managing food distribution, balancing serving responsibilities among food servers.
• Ensure visibility during meal times by seating and greeting residents, addressing any concerns, and ensuring their needs are met.
• Prepare schedules and assign tasks to wait staff, including assigning tables and closing duties.
• Ensure wait staff meets company standards for appearance, dress attire, customer service, and proper food handling techniques.
• Train wait staff on all operating procedures and menu education.
• Ensure efficient operations within budgeted guidelines.
• Promote customer engagement activities and interact with residents during meal times to monitor satisfaction or concerns, developing plans to address issues as appropriate.
• Facilitate the highest quality and service practices in all Food and Beverage sanitation standards and service to residents in the dining room.
• Monitor and evaluate food quality for presentation, temperature, and portion size; communicate with kitchen personnel for adjustments and share resident feedback.
• Monitor and evaluate table service adequacy for timing, etiquette, and thoroughness; provide service hospitality training and adjustments as needed.
• Monitor and adjust residents' accounts for meal and charge accuracy.
• Ensure floor charts and tables are set up correctly.
• Assist servers as needed with table service.
• Maintain Toast POS System by adding menu items and adding/deleting employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years’ experience in fine dining.
• Dining Room Supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to stand or walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 20 pounds.

Working Conditions

This position works in a fast-paced restaurant environment with exposure to heat, flames, cold temperatures, slippery floors, and sharp cooking tools. This role may work in close contact with others and must comply with food safety regulations, including appropriate clothing and protective gear such as hairnets, masks, disposable gloves, and slip-resistant shoes.
