Dining Room Supervisor

About the role

The Dining Room Supervisor at Sagewood is responsible for overseeing food service activities and ensuring the courteous and efficient service of quality and nutritious foods. This position requires a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in front of the house operations within a senior living community, restaurant, hotel, or club.

Responsibilities

• Aids in providing staff education in accordance with the staff education plan and offers on-the-job training for staff.
• Assigns specific jobs to staff and checks their work to ensure standards are met.
• Serves as a problem resolver for resident and staff issues and reports these to the Directors.
• Initiates maintenance requests to keep the dining rooms in good working order.
• Supervises the completion of hands-on assignments as assigned.
• Maintains records of staffing patterns, resident preferences, and front-of-house service.
• Participates in all aspects of the shift to ensure smooth operation.
• Attends pre-shift meetings and trains staff on service skills.
• Assists new staff in learning service skills and handling service in the dining room/restaurant.
• Communicates with the Food & Beverage Manager about challenges with front and back of house staff.
• Ensures proper and timely completion of side work.
• Assists with ordering necessary products for the department, including alcohol and market items.
• Assists with programming, reporting, and adjusting Full Count.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in front of the house operations within a senior living community, restaurant, hotel, or club. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to understand, empathize with, and work effectively with residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates. Candidates should also be able to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service processes, and understand resident requests.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess a strong background in hospitality and a proven track record of leadership in similar roles. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Skills

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this role. Proficiency in managing a team, understanding and implementing policies, and maintaining a high standard of customer service are expected.

Pay

$20-$25 per hour, with a varied schedule from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Variably scheduled from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, typically Monday through Friday.
