Dining Aide Position Summary
About the role
The Dining Aide helps create a joyful and vibrant community by providing prompt and excellent service to residents when serving meals and performing other duties.
Responsibilities
- Is prompt and reliable in coming to work.
- Reads production orders on coded menu cards on trays to determine items to place on tray.
- Apportions and places food servings on plates and trays according to diet list on menu card.
- Relays orders to the kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
- Observes diners to anticipate needs, respond to any additional request(s) and to determine when a meal has been completed.
- Prepares items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.
- Plays servings in blender to make foods soft for liquid diets.
- Records amount and types of special food items served to residents.
- Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
- Maintains assigned station, including table pieces and chairs.
- Affords residents to dining area if required.
- Delivers prompt and courteous service.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
- Stays current on all system assigned tasks and duties.
- Washes and puts away dishes as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of various kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Maintains current food handler’s card required.
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Relates positively and communicates appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
- Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
- Pass a criminal background check and fingerprint check.
- Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision).
Qualifications & Skills
- Competitive Compensation Program - Actual pay rate will be calculated based on relevant years of experience and education/certification requirements.
- Shift differential for night shift employees.

- Sick time accrues at 0.025 hours for every hour worked, available for use after 90-days.
- Paid time off accrual eligibility at 12 months starting at 0.0326 hours PTO accrued for every hour worked.
- Floating Holiday: 0.04 hours accrued for every hour worked, up to 56 hours annually to be taken on the days most important to you, eligible upon hire.
- Time worked on the following holidays is paid at 1.5 times your normal hourly pay: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
