About the role
The Digital Storytelling Writer will create authentic, engaging stories that connect with consumers on a human level.
Responsibilities
- Write engaging, story-driven digital articles that highlight real people, experiences, and moments.
- Review interview recordings and video content to identify compelling themes, memorable quotes, and authentic soundbites.
- Craft fresh, conversational narratives that resonate with consumer audiences while maintaining UnitedHealthcare’s brand voice.
- Translate conversations and interviews into polished, engaging stories that are informative, relatable, and easy to read.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand story objectives while bringing your own creative perspective to each piece.
- Ensure content is well organized, engaging, and optimized for digital reading.
- Deliver approximately four stories per month, averaging 15 hours of work each month.
Requirements
- Proven experience writing feature stories, profiles, human-interest pieces, or brand storytelling content.
- Exceptional ability to uncover authentic moments and create engaging narratives from interviews or video content.
- Strong editorial instincts with an eye for compelling quotes, natural flow, and varied storytelling.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to write in a warm, conversational voice while maintaining professionalism and brand consistency.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a flexible monthly workload.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing for consumer-facing brands or digital publications.
- Background in journalism, editorial writing, content marketing, or brand storytelling.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus, but not required.
- Outstanding storytelling ability is the top priority.
