About the Role

This is a developing professional role that deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. You will integrate in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. The role requires analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to make judgments and recommendations based on factual information. You will handle variable issues with potentially broader business impact and apply professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange potentially complex or sensitive information. The role has a moderate but direct impact through close contact with the business's core activities, affecting the effectiveness of your team and related teams.

Responsibilities

  • Turn tech stack and application design into code on multiple development platforms (e.g., iOS, Android, web/Angular, services).
  • Apply established criteria to address problems, questions, or situations, directly influencing development outcomes.
  • Use the right technology to solve technical challenges required to deliver small-scale features and functions or support larger program efforts.
  • Assist with feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and implementation of new or revised applications systems and programs.
  • Be accountable for development, design, construction, testing, and implementation, writing secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Operate with autonomy, though some oversight and direction may be required.
  • Engage in digital applications development, risk technology, Middleware, Mainframe and Non-Mainframe applications, Analytic Model Development, and Application support activities to meet business needs.
  • Test systems to ensure the integrity of deliverables.
  • Provide a sound understanding of application development concepts and principles, with basic knowledge in other technology areas.
  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues and recommend programming solutions for customer-exposed systems.
  • Fully learn the functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties of systems involved in your projects, including business requirements, applications/services, runtime operations, and maintenance.
  • Understand the business context and associated customer use cases.
  • Evaluate system designs and architecture, participate in solution discussions, and create application/systems documentation.
  • Drive clarity into technical implementation by leading system build and performance discussions, providing technical context to team members, and representing your team’s systems to others.
  • Build and maintain integrated project development schedules accounting for internal/external dependencies, differing SDLC approaches, and contingency for unplanned delays.
  • Negotiate features and priorities, helping the team and customers reach consensus.
  • Ensure clear, concise verbal and written communication, articulating development and timeline dependencies.
  • Maintain good working relationships with team members, managers, and peers.
  • Improve team development processes to accelerate delivery, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality.
  • Ensure self and peers actively seek ways to objectively measure productivity (e.g., SonarQube, Findbugs), focusing on automating code quality, performance, unit testing, and build processing in the CI/CD pipeline (RTC, Jenkins, RLM).
  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years in an Applications Development role.
  • Demonstrated execution capabilities and strong analytical and quantitative skills; data-driven and results-oriented.
  • Experience running high-traffic, distributed, cloud-based services.
  • Experience affecting large culture change.
  • Experience leading infrastructure programs.
  • Skilled at working with third-party service providers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
