The Digital Reporter is responsible for finding compelling stories about Easterseals participants and staff that inform and engage people in support of our mission for full disability inclusion, equity and access. Reporter will create, write, edit, and deliver polished video content for digital platforms. This role requires a quick turnaround to ensure timely content for social media, capturing and sharing stories and events as they unfold. Working closely with the Director of Digital Content and Story Producer, the Digital Reporter will handle duties typical of the news field, such as interviewing, visiting locations, and covering Easterseals events. The ideal candidate will excel in producing live, scripted and branded content, with strong storytelling skills and a background in news, ensuring dynamic and accurate coverage that resonates with our audience across social media and digital platforms. Starting Pay Range: $29.33/hr. - $36.54/hr. Essential Function Write, edit, and produce breaking news stories with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and visual impact.Create, shoot, and edit high-quality video content for digital platforms, including internal and external audiences.Using an iPhone to film and record content in the field, ensuring high-quality footage that meets platform standards.Operate independently as a one-person production team when necessary, handling filming, and editing.Collaborate with the Director of Digital Content and Story Producer to transform creative ideas into engaging and informative video content.Work closely with the Stories team to identify trending topics, breaking news, and story opportunities, regularly pitching ideas.Conduct interviews, research stories, and craft narratives that resonate with a broad audience.Attend and cover Easterseals events, producing timely video stories that align with the organization’s messaging and objectives.Coordinate field reporting, videos, photos, and social media embeds into cohesive, visually compelling stories.Manage a high volume of video production in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, ensuring all content is delivered on time.Use strong editorial judgment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all content, following brand guidelines and ethical standards.Manage feedback from stakeholders and team members, incorporating revisions and ensuring final videos meet quality standards. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Journalism, Communications or related field. Experience Minimum 3+ years’ experience in digital or news reporting.Experience reporting and shooting content. Must provide 5+ video samples of completed work.Preferred work experience in television or other digital news reporting. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Experienced in shooting videos, with a solid understanding of video editing software and effective use of social media platforms.Excellent communication skills, both on camera and through written and verbal expression.Strong writing and editing skills to craft story-driven content for social media and digital video platforms.Strong background in mobile device operations, sound, and conducting on-camera interviews.Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and time pressure.Functional knowledge of social trends and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology.Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps, particularly Premiere Pro, and Microsoft Office applications.Comfortable working in a Windows/PC-based environment.Working knowledge of image types, resolutions, and frame rates as they relate to digital media trends.Attention to detail, with the ability to implement direction, feedback, and deliver assets on time.Flexibility to adapt to changing timelines and deliverables.Deep understanding of social media and digital video platforms.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.Ability to work both independently and under close direction when needed.Reliable transportation and the ability to drive throughout Southern California.Proactive thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
