About the role

Develop embedded firmware for advanced power conversion systems at the heart of our autonomous defense platforms. Work at the intersection of firmware and power electronics, developing control systems for DC-DC converters, power distribution, and energy management that enable efficient, reliable operation in demanding field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware in C/C++ for digital control of power electronics systems, including DC-DC converters, voltage regulation, power conversion, and power distribution.
  • Develop and validate digital control strategies using simulation and modeling tools such as SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink before transitioning designs to hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to bring up, debug, and validate power electronics hardware across a range of operating and load conditions.
  • Implement and refine control algorithms to improve power-system efficiency, stability, transient response, and thermal performance.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve firmware, control-loop, and hardware integration issues.
  • Continuously iterate on firmware and control strategies based on simulation results, laboratory measurements, and real-world system performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing embedded firmware for power electronics or power-management systems.
  • Strong understanding of digital control for DC-DC converters, inverters, voltage regulators, or similar power conversion architectures.
  • Solid knowledge of both analog and digital power systems and their interactions with embedded control.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded applications, with experience on microcontrollers such as STM32, TI C2000, or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience implementing control algorithms, including PID control loops, anti-windup techniques, PWM generation, and phase-shift modulation.
  • Experience using simulation and modeling tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and Simulink.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to translate simulation and laboratory results into firmware and control-system improvements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing and tuning digital power-control loops, including compensation and stability analysis.
  • Understanding of high-efficiency power-conversion techniques, EMI/EMC considerations, and thermal management.
  • Experience working with battery systems, battery management, energy storage, or energy-management systems.
  • Experience developing embedded power systems for defense, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or other high-performance applications.
  • Experience with advanced digital control techniques, including sophisticated PID tuning, anti-windup strategies, adaptive control, PWM modulation, and phase-shift control.
