About the role
KCRG-TV9 is seeking a Digital News Influencer to innovate and expand the newsroom's digital reach. This position follows a four-day work schedule (Thursday–Sunday) and focuses on reshaping news content for digital platforms, including social media, websites, apps, and podcasts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable on camera and well-versed in ethical journalism practices.
Responsibilities
- Reformat news content to optimize reach and engagement on digital platforms
- Position KCRG content to compete for attention and impact on social media
- Present content on-camera for live streams, podcasts, or social media videos
- Write AP-style news stories daily for digital platforms
- Send breaking news and trending push alerts
- Ensure factual, grammatical, and legal accuracy online while upholding journalistic standards
- Coach and collaborate with reporting staff on digital presentation strategies
- Review metrics and adjust digital strategies accordingly
- Communicate with producers to incorporate digital elements into newscasts
- Create memes, videos, and graphics for social engagement
- Utilize analytics to track trends and inform daily decisions
- Engage with the audience on social media and digital channels
- Monitor social media for trends and potential news story ideas
- Plan and build special site sections and features to highlight coverage and encourage engagement
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including knowledge of AP Style
- Ability to edit video in digital formats
- Proficiency in Photoshop for creating and editing graphics
- Ability to work well under pressure and collaborate with a diverse team
- Strong understanding of journalistic principles
- Ability to balance long- and short-term projects while meeting daily deadlines
- College degree in journalism, marketing, or a related field preferred
- Proven record of digital and social media success
- Previous experience in a professional newsroom preferred
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and be on call
Schedule
Four-day work schedule: Thursday–Sunday.
