Position Overview
The Digital Navigator assists community members in obtaining affordable home internet service, devices, and digital skills coaching. This role supports equitable access to technology and empowers clients to become effective home internet users.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, return, or initiate participant contact and provide digital navigation assistance and education
- Assess connectivity needs, device needs, digital skill priorities, and navigation goals using approved assessment tools
- Provide information and support for free or affordable home internet service options and assist clients in applying for and securing service
- Offer information and support for affordable computers or internet-connected devices and assist clients in acquiring appropriate devices
- Coach participants on basic digital skills, internet use, online services, and priority applications through in-person, phone, and online support
- Track participant progress, maintain accurate records, and document service activities and participant outcomes for staff review and reporting
- Connect participants with additional digital training, community resources, or partner referrals when needed
Requirements
- Passion for community service and connecting neighbors to digital tools, skills, and opportunities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Interest in community development or digital inclusion
Eligibility
- U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 17 years old by the start of service
- No more than four previous AmeriCorps State/National terms
Timeline
We are currently recruiting Members to serve from September 8th, 2026 - August 13th, 2027. Members will serve full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) and complete 1700 hours of service over the course of the term.
