Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position

The Digital Marketing Specialist supports strategic marketing initiatives that serve mission-driven needs for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This role manages day-to-day website maintenance; creates social media content and coordination with cross-functional units, writes and edits blogs and e-newsletters, consults on digital strategy and develops alumni communications.

This role creates, shares and manages timely, informative, and engaging content that clearly communicates the commitment to excellence in teaching and learning in health care.

Maintains, develops and updates content for the HEIs public-facing websites

  • Maintains, develops and updates content for the HEIs public-facing websites.
  • Serves as the social media specialist to create, share and leverage story reach via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and other platforms as part of a robust social media strategy.
  • Collaborates with the alumni relations and development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward our alumni as partners, advocates, and investors.
  • Develops and manages production of e-newsletters and supports emerging digital communications; collaborates with staff and faculty to generate content ideas; schedule and conduct interviews; recommends photography, videography and art as required; edit stories.
  • Partners with marketing team, faculty/staff and others on design and content of electronic and web-based publications to maximize impact.
  • Monitors outcomes and measures effectiveness of digital tools across platforms.

Social Media Specialist

  • Serves as the social media specialist to create, share and leverage story reach via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and other platforms as part of a robust social media strategy.
  • Collaborates with the alumni relations and development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward our alumni as partners, advocates, and investors.

Communications and Story Content Planning

  • Participates in communications and story content planning with the director to support academic program marketing; diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; student recruitment, success and retention; internal communications; faculty research and recognition; and alumni engagement.
  • Collaborates with the alumni relations and development staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward our alumni as partners, advocates, and investors.

Alumni Engagement

  • Proactively plans and implements PR efforts to enhance the HEIs reputation by collaborating with leadership to initiate meetings with faculty and staff members for proactive placement in national and local traditional and nontraditional news outlets.
  • Develops and implements strategies to promote the image of the HEIs and/or programs by using market research data to determine the most effective techniques and approaches for reaching target audiences.
  • Achieves alumni engagement goals by building relationships with and developing content for alumni that will enhance the future of the HEIs.

Writing, Editing, Marketing Initiatives and Strategic Communications

  • Aids the director with writing, editing, marketing initiatives and strategic communications initiatives.
  • Monitors outcomes and measures effectiveness of digital tools across platforms.

Technical Skills

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related degree (required).

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years recent experience marketing and communications (in higher education, preferred).
