About the role

This position assists patients in preparation for exams, provides basic instruction, transports patients, greets visitors, and performs various administrative tasks. The role also involves organizing and preparing exam rooms, filing and retrieving health information, and documenting observations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patient in preparation for exam, provides basic instruction, transports patients, and escorts patients, families, and visitors.
  • Uses radiology computer systems to generate requisitions, check schedules, and obtain patient information.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms and work areas, including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.
  • Greets patients and visitors, responds to routine requests, schedules appointments, and takes messages.
  • Acts as a liaison between ordering physician, radiologist, and technologist.
  • Provides radiology reports and/or radiographic images to staff, physicians, patients, and/or family upon request.
  • Fills out required forms/documentation and files health information records and films.
  • Compiles film jackets/discs and completes required forms/documentation.
  • Documents requested information and communicates patient needs to physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment.
  • Assists with screening and documenting MRI implants based on department need.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire.
  • GED or HSED, or High School Graduate.
  • Competent in IV insertion and venipuncture, based on department need.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience in using computer applications/systems and electronic mail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well independently and with technologists, physicians, and patients.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements.

Skills

  • IV insertion and venipuncture.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Pay

$18.85 - $28.30 per hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with shared on-call responsibilities on the weekends and holidays.
