Digital & IT Analyst - Engineering Technology
About the role
The Digital & IT Analyst – Engineering Technology supports Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and external vendors to deliver, support, and continuously improve engineering technology solutions, with a primary focus on engineering software licensing infrastructure, usage reporting and chargebacks, and supporting the server and endpoint access required for engineering applications. The role administers license server environments, coordinates operating system and security requirements with infrastructure teams, and helps ensure reliable access, compliance, and reporting for engineering software usage in alignment with established standards and processes. It also supports engineering software license and licensing infrastructure management, including license server administration support, vendor coordination, network and endpoint access impacts, usage reporting, and allocation/chargeback support, and assists with application management activities for engineering should‑costing software and other Engineering application owners’ infrastructure and back‑office needs to help ensure stable, secure, and compliant delivery of engineering capabilities, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Does not have direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering licensing infrastructure and license servers (e.g., FlexLM), including configuration, renewals, monitoring, troubleshooting, and uptime.
- Support usage reporting/analytics (e.g., OpeniT) for compliance, optimization, and allocation/chargeback.
- Coordinate with Infrastructure/Security on OS standards, patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and access controls for licensing/app servers.
- Support licensing vendors (cases, renewals, entitlements, and license delivery/validation).
- Support network access needs/impacts (firewalls, DNS, routing, VPN, authentication, proxies) for license checkout and application connectivity; escalate broader design issues.
- Support endpoint access constraints, including permissions, configuration, and compatibility guidance.
- Assist with workstation/PC hardware guidance for engineering software performance and licensing needs.
- Support engineering should‑costing software (access, configuration coordination, integrations as applicable, vendor engagement).
- Assist Engineering application owners with back‑office/infrastructure needs (provisioning coordination, access reviews, certificates, scheduled jobs, monitoring, documentation).
- Maintain documentation/procedures for licensing, reporting, access, and support; support reliability, compliance, and user experience improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel as required.
- Support the following disciplines as needed:
- Engineering software licensing and compliance (FlexLM and other licensing technologies)
- License usage reporting, optimization, and chargeback/allocation support (OpeniT or similar)
- License server infrastructure administration (Windows/Linux server administration as applicable)
- Engineering application access and connectivity (network/endpoint access impacts)
- Engineering technology vendor management and renewals/entitlements
- Engineering should‑costing application support
- Support for related engineering technology platforms and back‑office/infrastructure services
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee (Export Control Restrictions – ITAR).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications and/or infrastructure in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment, with demonstrated experience supporting operational support activities.
- Experience administering software licensing environments (e.g., FlexLM/FlexNet or comparable technologies) and supporting license server operations.
- Experience with software usage reporting/analytics tools (e.g., OpeniT or similar) and translating usage data into actionable insights for compliance and cost optimization.
- Working knowledge of server administration concepts (Windows and/or Linux), including monitoring, access controls, and coordination of patching and security activities with infrastructure teams.
- Ability to coordinate cross‑functional work across Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and external vendors; strong incident triage and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills; able to explain technical constraints and options to non‑technical users.
- No professional licensure required; role supports licensed engineering software and related compliance requirements.
