Johnson C. Smith University seeks an innovative, collaborative librarian to support access to the James B. Duke Memorial Library’s digital resources, including websites, databases, e-books, remote learning tools, and social media. This role leads digital initiatives that enhance undergraduate research and career readiness through partnerships with students, faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage and create metadata for Digital Smith and the OCLC library management system.
- Promote and secure funding for digital projects and library technology.
- Ensure data protection and security for digital resources.
- Collaborate with University Archives and Circulation departments.
- Contribute to information literacy and research services initiatives.
- Participate in campus conversations about innovative scholarship and the evolving role of libraries in higher education.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program (or equivalent).
- Experience managing digital content, websites, and data security.
- Strong interest in emerging technologies and library trends.
- Excellent communication, project management, and customer service skills.
- Experience with library databases, social media, outreach, and remote learning tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with metadata standards and digital repositories.
- Familiarity with OCLC and other library management systems.
- Background in information literacy instruction.
- Experience with vendor relations, supervision, training, grant writing, or budget management.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in academic or library settings.
Pay
$51,000.00 – $56,000.00 annually.
