Digital Imaging Specialist

About the role

The Advanced Microscopy and Specialized Histology Imaging Support position at Med-Pathology provides comprehensive imaging and informatics support to laboratory operations. Key responsibilities include image acquisition, quality control, data entry, and maintenance of imaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and motorized/automated digital light and fluorescence microscopy systems.
• Understand and apply/modify automation routines for focus acquisition, background and signal-to-noise optimization.
• Provide microtomy feedback and overall specimen quality reports to histology operations.
• Perform quality assurance evaluations on scanned images, ensuring diagnostic and analysis quality and data de-identification when appropriate.
• Upload/archival of the slide images into various LIMS repository as required in the lab workflow protocol and/or project.
• Collect and organize experimental data associated with scanning projects (basic grouping).
• Aid in research activities, such as manuscript generation, data input, and algorithm development.
• Analyze data metrics related to imaging system reliability, overall data storage usage, and predict/anticipate data archival tasks.
• Perform routine maintenance, alignments, and calibrations on hardware to ensure system functionality and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as the primary resource for equipment knowledge, troubleshooting, and data information regarding the imaging system and pathology workflow software.

Requirements

This position requires attention to detail, accurate, precise, and dependable performance of techniques and organization, which is critical to interpretation and experimental conclusions. Physical effort is primarily sedentary but may involve some walking between laboratories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Skills

Knowledge of advanced microscopy techniques, specialized histology imaging, and proficiency in using digital light and fluorescence microscopy systems. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and basic programming skills are preferred.
