Digital Component Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Digital Integrated Circuits Component Engineer to manage the life cycle of strategic electronic components. This role involves planning, development, and growth in digital ICs, working with program offices, prime contractors, designers, and agencies like DLA, part manufacturers, and test labs. The position supports efforts in manufacturing processes, design applications, electrical test methods, radiation effects, failure analysis, and military specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide digital component engineering support to the technologist team, including writing technical reports.
• Advise military programs and designers on part selection.
• Troubleshoot digital component issues and recommend solutions.
• Understand electrical test methods, radiation effects, failure analysis tools, and material analysis techniques.
• Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs, and other government agencies.
• Develop and review test plan documentation.
• Provide complete life-cycle support of strategic systems.
• Travel 25-50% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field, preferably Electrical Engineering, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent Digital Component Engineering experience.
• Focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts.
• Knowledgeable or willingness to learn best design practices for IEEE parts.
• Basic understanding of military industry standards (MIL-STD).
• Ability to analyze differences between standards for various part types.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, program offices, colleagues, and contractors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn complex functions.
• Ability to write technical reports.
• Understanding of basic electrical testing of IEEE parts.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), Hybrid Microcircuits, or Memory Devices.
• Knowledge of best design practices for IEEE parts, including manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of differences between military, industry, commercial, and automotive standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formula integration, macros, etc.).
• Strong understanding of electrical testing of IEEE parts, including basic benchtop testing.
• Understanding of radiation testing of IEEE parts.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Pay

$120,000 - $190,000 annually.
