General Summary
The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for the development, enhancement and ongoing evaluation of the enterprise-wide corporate communications and digital marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organizational strategic priorities. The role plays a key part in advancing digital engagement by contributing to content management, digital advertising efforts, and audience experience enhancements. Reports to department leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day internal and external communications, including content development, creative writing, and newsletter production.
- Supports the planning, development, and execution of multi-channel digital communications initiatives (e.g., website, email, intranet, and social media).
- Executes social media advertising campaigns across platforms, including Meta (Facebook and Instagram), managing audience targeting, ad placement, and campaign setup.
- Executes public-facing digital experience strategy, with a strong focus on search visibility, discoverability, and performance (SEO/GEO).
- Contributes to and maintains content planning and editorial calendars, aligning with organizational initiatives, campaigns, and seasonal priorities.
- Monitors content performance metrics (e.g., engagement, reach, impressions) and identifies opportunities to enhance content effectiveness.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop content for digital and print that supports departmental and organizational priorities and strengthens brand identity.
- Ensures consistency in messaging, branding, and tone across all digital channels in alignment with CHKD’s voice, visual identity, and editorial standards.
- Stays current on digital communication trends and best practices to enhance communication effectiveness and engagement.
- Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and internal policies in all communications.
- Responsible for the execution of multiple, concurrent projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline required.
- Two to three years professional experience in corporate communications, digital content management, advertising, or a related role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with strengths in creative writing and editing.
- Advanced knowledge of grammar, AP style and Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with content management systems and other communications tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current communication best practices, including platform-specific content optimization and audience engagement.
- Ability to support multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
