About the role
UPMC Western Maryland is seeking Full-time and Part-time Dietitians who enjoy problem-solving, helping others, and being part of a kind and collaborative team. This hospital, located in Cumberland, MD, offers a variety of nutrition support services including inpatient, home care, and outpatient programs.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality patient care to diverse patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy to include assessment, goals and plan of care.
- Demonstrates effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Provides appropriate nutrition education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities.
- Writes orders appropriately as governed by the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
- Formulates a Nutrition Diagnosis and identifies malnutrition through application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment Exam and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
- Provides timely interventions as determined by Nutrition Risk level and the Plan of Care.
- Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units &/or committees, responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement.
- As required, professional communication skills (verbal and written) adaptable to all health literacy levels in regard to preparing education materials, presentations and other communications.
- As required, follows outpatient billing guidelines and performs necessary documentation to ensure compliance of client charges within regulatory requirements.
- Participates in department-based Quality Process Improvement activities with an ability to actively endorse evidence-based practice.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Dietitian: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills. Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.
- Dietitian II: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics degree with 2 years clinical nutrition experience and be a registered dietitian OR Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with 1 year of clinical nutrition experience and a registered dietitian required. Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills. Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.

Pay
- Dietitian: Minimum hourly pay rate of $24.55
- Dietitian II: Minimum hourly pay rate of $27.28
Schedule
The selected candidate will work a daylight schedule with some flexibility regarding exact hours.
