About the role

Bayside Health is a public health service delivering high-quality care across every stage of life for close to 1.2 million people in metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Koo Wee Rup, Bass Coast and Southern Gippsland. It operates more than 15 main sites including hospitals, centres and clinics, employing over 22,000 staff. Formed on 1 January 2026 from the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health.

The Alfred Care Group's Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The joint department comprises approximately 48 EFT and 70 staff members, organised into 8 clinical streams and delivers a 7‑day service using evidence‑based, patient‑centred care to prevent and treat malnutrition and optimise nutritional wellbeing and recovery.

Responsibilities

As a Grade 1 or 2 Dietitian you will:

• Provide nutrition care to a range of clinical units.
• Work closely with Senior Dietitians to promote and develop nutrition services through teamwork, collaboration, innovation and communication.
• Undertake student education and supervision of Grade 1 Dietitians (depending on grade level) and Nutrition Assistants.
• Actively participate in quality improvement and/or research activities.

Requirements

• Experience in the assessment and nutritional management of patients, including provision of enteral and oral nutrition support.
• Excellent communication skills, proficiency in nutrition education and basic computer skills.
• Experience in student supervision.
• Understanding of quality improvement and service development.
• Eligibility for membership of Dietitians Australia and the APD credentialing program.
• Minimum of three years clinical experience in a hospital setting for Grade 2 consideration.

Schedule

Full time (76 hours per fortnight). Fixed term position until January 2027, with possibility for extension. Work across Alfred Care Group hospitals: The Alfred Hospital, Caulfield Hospital or Sandringham Hospital.
