Duties
- Organize, implement, direct and evaluate the Dietary Department
- Assume the Administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the Dietary Department
- Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, etc.
- Determine departmental staffing requirements
- Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etc.
- Maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for each level of dietary personnel
- Solicit advice from interdepartmental supervisors
- Ensure dietary personnel follow established safety regulations
- Maintain and provide easy access to current Material Safety Data Sheets
- Attend department head meetings, etc.
- Provide written/oral reports of the dietary services and activities
- Implement and evaluate recommendations of established committees
- Update the Nutritional Assessment, Plan of Care and weight section of the MDS
- Process diet changes and new diet orders
- Routinely check diets against physician’s orders
- Maintain current written records of departmental expenditures
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments
- Assume the responsibility for maintaining professional competence through participation in programs of continuing education
- Be on-call twenty-four (24) hours a day / seven (7) days a week
Qualifications
- Healthcare and Culinary experience a must
