Main Function
Serves food to clients and accesses assigned information systems as needed. Designated as Essential during emergency closures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Treat all clients with dignity and respect, including affirming care for LGBTQ individuals.
- Maintain cleanliness in kitchen, prep, and dining areas.
- Assist with food preparation, delivery, and service.
- Serve proper food portions and accommodate special diets.
- Clean and sanitize all service and prep areas after meals.
- Order and stock supplies; assist with inventory and storage.
- Maintain records at food service and dishwashing sites.
- Wash dishes, pots, and utensils by hand and/or machine as needed.
- Set up service counters and assist clients during meals.
- Report equipment malfunctions or kitchen issues to supervisor.
- Perform tasks as requested by the Cook or Director of Nutrition Services.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Competency Requirements
- Basic food prep skills (e.g., snacks, light meals)
- Knowledge of proper cleaning product use
- Proficient in cleaning, sanitizing, and dishwashing
- Able to label, date, rotate, and store food properly
- Good communication skills
- Able to perform basic math functions
Educational and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year large-scale food prep experience or six months of on-the-job training
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Physical Demands
- Requires frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, reaching, and stair climbing
- Must stand and walk for extended periods
- Regularly uses hands for grasping; occasionally lifts up to 40 lbs
- Requires visual acuity for accuracy and attention to detail
